The digital revolution - some even talk of a change of civilisation - dates back to the post-World War II era and has evolved exponentially over more than 50 years. But since the mass adoption of the internet by the general public at the beginning of the 21st century, every decade (or even every year) brings its own new tools, technologies and practices, which can be difficult to learn and understand. So difficult that today, even though we live with digital cultures, perhaps we cannot claim to really know them.
The exhibition invites us to step back and look at this digital world with a critical eye, to escape its grip for a moment and regain our free will. Press the ESC key on your computer keyboard and join us on this very real journey through cyber cultures: welcome!
The exhibition will be open to the public at Slovenian Computer History Museum from 23 November 2022 to 31 May 2023 during regular museum opening hours and by appointment.
Exhibition Escape, Journey to the Heart of Digital Cultures
15. Nov 2022
In the exhibition Escape, Journey to the Heart of Digital Cultures, we can immerse ourselves in the history of the internet, as well as in the world of mass data and its control, media and cyber-control. It questions the position of the human being at the centre of these new materials and virtual ecosystems, and asks how connected we are to the living and physical world around us in an increasingly digital environment.
