All CyberTeamSI team members had to first prove themselves in the qualifiers, where the CTF competition took place. The top-ranked individuals were then interviewed and finally prepared at a special Bootcamp in Portorož, where the final competition took place. The competitors spent 4 days preparing under the mentorship of Slovenian experts in the field of cyber security, who gave them their knowledge and experience and prepared them well for the competition.

The European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) is an initiative of the European Union Agency for Cyber Security, created to meet the growing need for ICT security professionals. The aim of the ECSC is to increase interest in cyber security among young people across Europe and to connect potential professionals with leading organisations in the field of cyber security.

This will be the second time that the Slovenian team will participate in the ECSC; last year the competition took place in Prague, Czech Republic, and ECSC 2022 will take place from 13 to 16 September in Vienna, with 28 teams from the European Union and 5 guest teams. The teams will face challenges in the fields of Cryptography, Web and Mobile Security, Reverse Engineering, Forensics and others.
